The Random Musings of a Socialite pt 9

Morning,

I think this is my first blog in June. And here was I thinking I'd do one a day. Well I'm not that good at speaking, and to be honest I only really write on here when a) I'm in the mood, and b) I'm near my laptop or other computer.

Did I tell you my laptop's name is Jermain? I called it after the oh-so-sexy guitarist out of Flight of the Conchords, who's name is Jermain. Not to be confused with the not-so-sexy guitarist out of Flight of the Conchords, who's name is Brett.

Now I'm listening to Queen 'Invisible Man'. Me and Josh had an idea about this song. (More on Josh later) If any of you know this song, you can read on. If you've never heard it, listen to it on YouTube then read on. =)

Well, you know how in the song the names of the band members are shouted out at random points in the song? Well we thought it'd be a better Idea if they were shouted out when the instrument they played joined into the song.. As far as I remember the order goes 'Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, Roger Taylor, Brian May'.. But I may wrong. So I've started the song again to make sure.

Anyway, I suppose I'd better go now, after that pearl of knowledge.

The Random Musings of a Socialite pt 8

Morning

Casting Crowns - Voice of Truth

'Oh,what I would do to have
the kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown
Where Jesus is,
And he's holding out his hand

But the waves are calling out my name
and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
time and time again
"Boy, you'll never win,
you'll never win."

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
the voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh, what I would do
to have the kind of strength it takes
To stand before a giant
with just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound
of a thousand warriors
shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out
my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
time and time again
"Boy you'll never win,
you'll never win."

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
the voice of truth says "do not be afraid!"
and the voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

But the stone was just the right size
to put the giant on the ground
and the waves they don't seem so high
from on top of them looking down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
when I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
singing over me

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says "do not be afraid"
And the voice of truth says "this is for my glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me (calling out to me)
I will choose to listen and believe (I will choose to listen and believe)
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

I will listen and believe
I will listen and believe the voice of truth
I will listen and believe
'Cause Jesus you are the voice of truth
And I will listen to you.. oh you are'

I do like that song, it's amazing. =) Mark Hall is a great lyricist.

Anyway, still here, still burned..

I woke up this morning with achy-breaky skin.. And then we were bundled off to a garden fete with Laurie's mum. It was fun in the parts where I found shade to nurse myself, but then we decided to go a walkabout the garden, and I felt distinctly woozy halfway round and had to hide it from people.. I almost fainted, but it's ok because then I had a steak pie and copious amounts of tea. s'nice.

Then we watched my new film which was good and ate pizza, raisins and chocolate. And I read Judge Dredd and Laurie draped yoghurt and cucumber over my sunburn because she's amazing like that.

A good day, all in all.

The Random Musings of a Socialite pt 7 (oops)

Morning,

How are you all right now? I imagine a good deal of you will be in bed asleep right now, but I suppose you could take the 'right now' to mean 'right when you read this blog' in which I highly doubt you're asleep. You could be in bed, but that's a little lazy, and co-incidentally the reason why I moved my desk.

I have bad sunburn, so you should by rights be feeling VERY sorry for me. Right now. Because surprisingly I'm pretty much sunburned all over, even though I was fully respectable with shorts on.

You see, we've just come back from a night away in the sticks camping with my family. There was 8 of us, three tents and one night away which managed to fill an entire car. And is you've seen the size of our car, you'd also be impressed. The tents were up, we went on a lovely walk and got lost, got back to the site with lots of pilfered firewood, made the fire, got told off for making the fire too soon, cut toasting sticks and roasted various things, and generally an enjoyable time was had by all..

Then the next morning I burned myself. And that's a lot of what you need to know.

Oh, who else is rather annoyed that Susan Boyle didn't win Britains Got Talent?! Ellie will hate me for mentioning this, she doesn't like that show.. but inversely she likes Gossip Girl and 90210.. so she can be relied upon for a good opinion of TV..

But anyway, yeah, Susan Boyle. She's been through so much as BGT, and she really deserved to win.. But mind you, Diversity were also really good.. but so were Flawless, and they weren't even in the top three.. I didn't think Julian Smith was good really.

Anyway, I'm going to stop talking about this now, because Ellie really will hit me. And I have sunburn, so it'd hurt..

The Random Musings of a Socialite pt 6

Good Morning,

I seem to writing on here even more intermittently then before.. There is a good reason, I assure those of you who care..

I had my Advanced Maths exam today, and I think I can safely say I gout about 33% of it correct. By 'it' I mean the title page. The exam itself was a lot harder.

I've spent the last two days in the upper part of a tucked away park revising for the exam with my good friend Ellie. We revised, revised and then revised. Apart from today, when we were joined by two other people who insisted on putting us off our revision as much as possible. Then fannying around when we put our books away til we had to return to 'the particular solution to asecond order differentional equations with real and incidental roots'. Believe me, these little buggers can really annoy..

In better news, it's my girlfriends birthday tomorrow, she will be 16. This is good news to be shared by all, if only for the fact that it means she's officially legal and above-board when we do naughty things like drink booze. The unfortunate thing is that I've been in a state of large and big pennilessness, so I've had to make this quite an economic birthday present.. I'll tell you what I got her some other time, in case she reads this before tomorrow. deal?

Ah, good ol' Team America soundtrack has come on.. 'I miss you more the Michael Bay missed the mark, when he made Pearl Harbour, I miss you more than that movie missed the point, and that's an awful lot girl..' =D

Anyway, I suppose I better get back to watching my little 3 yr old brother, he's probably invading Poland right about now..

The Random Musings of a Socialite pt 5

Well hello, I've not been on here for a while so I figured I should write something..

I've just spent the last hour of my life designing a PotC hoodie for when I just need to express myself. I feel the best way I can do this is in a hoodie which shows my passion, and I don't particularly think Laurie wants her face on my hoodie. =)

I have two exams this week and another one next week. I think I really shoudl be revising instead of chatting to you lot. But boundless is the folly of man, I suppose. Ooh, that sounds almost proverbial. Can you tell I just made that up?

I do like reading books.

I think my train of thought should be put into a small jar and arrested for aggressive abuse of thinking. I honestly go through life and my brain is about forty words in front of my mouth so when I have too much to say, which is often, I usually just miss out the non-important, or not-as-interesting bits. Like for instance, the previous two paragraphs, the linking train of thought goes something like this.

good proverb - literacy - anagrams - book that I'm reading has anagrams - its a good book - I like reading it - I like reading books generally.

I think you may have lost interest in this subject a while back. I know that I stopped thinking about it a long time ago and now I'm thinking about eggcups. But anyway, I'll leave you to wonder what the connection is.

2000 BC - An ageing Conan the Barbarian notices that his thews aren't as mighty as they used to be. Depressed, he eats a carton of ice-cream, and washes it down with bourbon.
993 - Saint Skeet Ulrich of Augsburg canonized. Unfortuantely, they used too much powder and he overshot the catch net.
1776 - King George III receives a letter from the colonies; throws it out thinking that it's yet another menu from a pizza restaurant.
1862 - Abraham Lincoln proclaims an end to the American Civil War. He waits a moment, then yells "Psych!"
1917 - American troops in Flanders attempt to recreate the famous Christmas Truce of 1914 by holding a 4th of July barbeque in No Man's Land. The results are predictable.
1969 - Birth of Will Smith. The world rejoices. Warring forces in Vietnam, Czechoslovakia and Detroit lay down their arms, and join together in ushering in the new Golden Age of Mankind.
1996 - Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum save the world by infecting the alien mothership with a computer virus, thus continuing the time-honored tradition of infections saving the world from aliens. Will Smith tries to take all the credit, but Jeff Goldblum threatens to sic his Jewish father on him.
1997 - Will Smith Day becomes an official worldwide celebration.
2007 - You sit at a computer. Why not go outside and get some fresh air? And watch the stars, the sky, and that huge metal ball that somehow didn't hit that comet but changed his path towards you? Yeah, it's following you. Get an umbrella or go to the subways.

And that's what Unclycopedia says.

The Random Musings of a Socialite pt 4

Morning.

Well it hardly seems like three days since I started blogging..

It's mine and Laurie's 3-month anniversary, according to her. I still think it should go from 13th to 13th, but let's humour her.. Three months of being affiliated to the most amazing girl I could want. =) She got me mints! I love mints. mmm mints.. ^_^ And I offered one to my Engineering teacher and told him that they were a 3-month anniversary, and he said 'awww' and ate it. I like to think it tasted better for it. =)

On This Day:

0 - First Ninja Pirate born. He is easily confused with Jesus and ends up killing said Jesus and takes his place. He is worshipped in Christianity.
616 - Pope Eggs Benedict IV declares that Spain does not exist
927 - The fucking Vikings do something really nasty, they create Norway
1865 - Abraham Lincoln turns down tickets to the Ice Capades in order to see a play
1975 - The Year 1975 is misplaced in History
1914 - Stand-up British gents die jolly-good deaths in World War I
1927 - Everybody gets depressed
1930 - First person ever born on this date.
1931 - First person to ever be born on this date is found dead of a heroin overdose. Everyone is sad.
1935 - Prozac is invented, entering the market under the auspicious title World War II
1982 - Pope Jean Paul II readmits Spain to existance, apologizes for his forepope's bigotry
1986 - Ronald Reagen weeps publically, after being called a 'nosey meddler' by Nicarauans. Sandinistas lead GLOBAL COMMUNIST REVOLUTION resulting with complete annihilation of life. God reported to be 'alcoholic and whore-mongering'.
1993 - First use of the word LOL in recorded history
2008 - With all the success of his book, James Madison takes a relaxing vacation in Purgatory. Where there was much rejoicing!
2012 - The word LOL is finally added to the Oxford dictionary, despite numerous protests from people such as Stephen Fry.

That's  what Uncyclopedia.com says.

Can't really top that tbh..

The Random Musings of a Socialite pt 3

Morning =)

I missed the school bus, on my fourth last day. I think I must be the coolest kid on the block..

That was Sarcasm, if you hadn't noticed.

I 'm very proud of the fact that I was hungry, walked into a shop, rejected the chocolat and junk food, and went straight for the clementines. I ate 6. And found 3 pips. I love the clementine.. It's not pippy, like the mandarin, or bloody hard to open like the tangerine. Ah such simple things can give one joy if one lets it.

Now I'm at school, the service bus journey took me 2 hours, and I arrived to go straight to Engineering, only to find that all they were involved in doing was staining the trebuchet and writing a presentation, both of which could easily have been done with no help from me. I never have, or never will, pretend to be any more than average at handling a paint brush and pot. In fact, if we take a proper average of everyone, including children and Polish people (who as everyone knows are exempt from most normal averages) then I'm quite a way behind average. So I stood around looking clever and slightly hot and bothered until the break, when I frantically ran around looking for sponsors for the Half-Marathon I'm running.

Want to sponsor?

I just re-read that last paragraph (well the last-but-one, the last one says 'Want to sponsor?' and that's not what was bothering me) and I realised that you probably don't know either a) what a trebuchet is, or b) why the hell we have one in our class. Well let me illucidate here. In my Engineering class we originally had four modules, Structures, Dynamics, Power Generation and Electronics. Now we scuppered Electronics, and instead decided to build a working model of a trebuchet. It's about 2m high, and a thing o' beauty. And if you want to know what a trebuchet is, go and find out on wikipedia, you lazy bastard.

=)

Ok, I better head off now, I'll probably add to this post later on.

Cheeribye

'Lets face the facts about me and you,

A love unspecified,

Though I'm proud to call you chocolat bear,

the crowd will always stop and stare,

I feel exactly those feelings too, and that's why I keep them inside,

cus this bear can't bear the world's disdain, and sometimes it's easier to hide,

than explain our

Guy Love, that's all it is,

Guy Love, he's mine I'm his,

There's nothing gay about it in our eyes,

you ask me about this thing we share,

and he tenderly replies,

It's Guy Love, between two guys..'

Ahhhh Scrubs..
